Why I started my blog
I’ve always loved to write. It has been a passion of mine for many years. Believe it or not, it wasn’t my love of writing that led me to start blogging. It was purely business, in the beginning.
I started researching ways to make money online, and came across Wealthy Affiliate. I created a website for my first business, Opportunity Market, on their platform. Opportunity Market was a website compiled of various and legitimate ways to make money online. I came up with the concept after spending years falling for get rich quick schemes and MLM.
I knew that blogging was one way to drive traffic to your business, so The Momapreneur was born. I fell in love with blogging in the very beginning. I let go of Opportunity Market, focused on my blog, and am now in the process of building my business around the new re-brand, Soulful Success.
Advice for new bloggers
Blog about what you love and know. Yes, there are a ton of ‘trends’ that are popular to write about, that could help you gain traffic quickly. However, when you are building a blog that you want to be successful, the content needs to be both interesting and informative for the reader. Having a niche that you are well versed in and love makes writing more natural. Trends change. Unless your blog is about changing trends and fads (fashion), you can cause yourself more trouble than necessary when creating posts.
Use social media. Social media is a great way to get your blog out there. But it is also great for finding other bloggers and influencers, and creating relationships with them. You can get ideas, support, as well as help from other bloggers. Connecting with other bloggers on social media is also a form of networking. All of the guest blogs that I have had the pleasure of being featured on have originated from social media interactions.
