5 Ways to Crush Your Goals

Making a goal, and achieving it are two different things. Setting the goal is only the first step. A great step, but many people just stop there. What’s even worse; they psych themselves out at the very beginning, hindering any progression.

How you actually go about accomplishing a goal varies. However, there are some fundamentals for any type of goal achievement. No matter the goal type or person.

First Things First… Set the Goal

Setting a goal seems easy enough. But, HOW you set a goal can mean the difference between success and failure.

Your goal needs to be clear, concise and have a deadline. The more detail you put into formulating the goal, the easier it is to outline and figure out what needs to be done.

For example, if you say you want to loose weight this year, how likely are you to work out and exercise regularly? You probably won’t. Or, once you loose 5 lbs, you quit. Why? Well subconsciously, you’ve already lost weight so why keep going?

However, if you were to set a goal more concise, say 10 lbs in 3 months, you have a better idea of what you need to do because you have an exact desired outcome and timeline to achieve it.

Even if the goal is something that you don’t think you can achieve within your means, set it with intention and detail. Take baby steps. Which brings me to my next point…

Break It Down

Breaking your ambitious desires down into mini goals aid in achievement. Having bite sized pieces, instead of one big chunk allows you to focus on certain components at a time.

When a goal is broken down, you are better able to assess and determine what it is that you need to do. It doesn’t seem so daunting of a task when broken up.

You can feel more of a sense of accomplishment with smaller goals. You achieve them faster which keeps the motivation momentum going!

You can track your progression better with smaller goals. Each time you accomplish a small goal, check it off your list.

Organize your small goals by priority, not necessarily by easiest to hardest.

Commit Yourself, Dedicate Your Undivided Effort.

You wont always ‘feel like’ putting in the work. You’ll be tired, busy, or even frustrated.

You MUST commit yourself to the goal, or else it won’t get accomplished. That means doing the work, even when YOU don’t want too.

Focus on one goal at a time, not a bunch of goals. You may think that your getting more done but your not, you’re just causing yourself more frustration and anguish. Again, once you accomplish one goal, then another, the motivation momentum will keep you pumped and ready to take on the world!

Follow Through!

This is the most important step. This is where most people ‘fail’. You can’t succeed if you stop trying.

Its going to be tough. If you didn’t already know, life is hard. Things can be simple, but nothing in life comes easily.

You owe it to yourself to follow through. You owe it to yourself to remain dedicated.
