Welcome to the Mompreneur series! Over the next several weeks, I’ll be posting all things mom and entrepreneur.
If you aren’t familiar with the term, a mompreneur is a mom who is also an entrepreneur.
One major factor in any mothers or entrepreneurs life is planning and organization! If you’re a mompreneur, I’m willing to bet that your calendar is your holy grail!
If you don’t have a good calendar system in place, you are probably struggling mama! As mom’s, we’re going to struggle with many things, planning and organizing doesn’t have to be one of them!
Google’s calendar has literally changed my life! There are so many options and possibilities! It is great for mompreneurs. With our busy, hectic, multifaceted schedules, we need a calendar that will keep up! This calendar is literally an all in one.
Use as a calendar, planner, or daily schedule.
This calendar can be used in multiple ways! Input all of your appointments, meetings, to-do lists, and schedules to get a clear picture of your day, week, or month!
Each event added to the calendar can be as detailed as you need it to be! You can set reminders, add notes, collaborators, locations, and assign who has access to view or even edit the event! The later is really helpful if you have a spouse. They can be in the loop when changes are made and you don’t have to worry about the possibility of forgetting to update them!
When you add an event to the calendar, you have the option to make it reoccurring. This comes in handy when your planning out future dates or weeks. You wont have to add the same information over and over again and, you are easily able ‘plug in’ other events around reoccurring ones.
Integrate other apps.
The ability to add other organizational apps, such as Google Keep and Google Tasks has been extremely helpful.
Google Keep is a notes app that can be used for list making, outlining, note taking and more! I use Google Keep for grocery lists, blog ideas, and caption creation to name a few.
Google’s Task app is great for categorizing and detailing to-do’s. One way that I utilize this app is scheduling my blog or article due dates. I can add details to the task’s notes section, schedule reminders, make the task reoccurring, and categorize it.
Create calendars for everyone in the family.
The Google Calendar allows you to create multiple calendars in once place. This has really come in handy! You can color coordinate them based on person or calendar type. At a quick glance, I am able to see if my son or I have anything scheduled for the day just from looking at the color.
Its digital, use it anywhere, across almost any device.
Save the clutter and hassle of lugging a planner everywhere! You can view this calendar on your phone, tablet, or computer.
The ONLY downside that I’ve noticed with Google Calendar is that you can only see things scheduled through the Tasks app on the desktops calendar. This isn’t a huge deal since Google Tasks has their own smartphone app and will notify you when its time for a task. It would just be nice to see the tasks on the calendar as well while out and about.
View in multiple modes
You can view this calendar in several modes, day, week, 4-day, schedule, month, and year. You can choose the view mode that’s right for you.
Having the ability to view your schedule in multiple modes is very efficient for for future planning.
I typically view my calendar in the week or schedule modes. Again, some view modes are only available on the desktop view.
I love using the Google calendar and it has taken the place of both my planner and calendar. I give it a 9/10 rating and wouldn’t change much about it.
So tell me, have you used the Google calendar? What are your thoughts?
As always, peace and positive vibes.
